In this workshop we’ll look at the practice of dancing the Goldberg Variations.
The score of the performance is a performer dancing to classical music for about an hour. A dialogue with duration, space, composition, recognition, not knowing and the music are of importance. This all manifests as (not only) movement.
“The Goldberg Variations by J.S.Bach, played by Glen Gould, improvised by Steve Paxton” was a 1986 iconic, improvised, solo performance by Steve Paxton. The piece is revisited from 2009 till today by Jurij Konjar, also through an extensive dialogue with Paxton.
